Alhaji Liman Usman was born on the 6th of January 1960 at Mokwa in Mokwa Local Government Minna, Niger State. He started his education at Yeko primary school at the age of 9 where he got is first school leaving certificate in 1975. He proceeded to Government Teachers College Wushishi that same year and got hi Grade II Teachers Certificate in 1980. He went on to further his education by studying Geography at the University of Maiduguri and came out in 1986 with B.Sc (Hons). He served as a Laison Officer for Minijibir Local Government of Kano State as his primary assignment during his National Youth Service Corp. He later became the Head of Manpower statistics and was responsible for designing, collection and analysis of data collected. In 1991, Alhaji Liman became the acting head of population statistics and secretary Niger State budget screening committee. Not yet satisfied with his level of education, he went to get his Master in Population Studies (Dermography) for the University of Ghana, Legon in 1992. he is presently the Head of Statistics Division/Programme Director(NSIS, UNDP Assisted Programme). Alhaji Usman Liman is married and also a Member of Nigerian Geographical Society, Nigerian Economic Society.
