Mr. Boniface Oseloka Amobi (Chief OMEKANNIA) was born into the Royal Family of Igwe Amobi 1 of Ogidi, in Anambra State on 25th March, 1955. Hence, he is a bonafide Prince of the Igweship Trone of Ogidi. He is happily married with two children.
He obtained B.Sc (Mathematics and Statistics) and M.Sc (Statistics) of University of Lagos in 1981 and 1984 respectively. He also obtained PGD (Modelling and Accounting for Sustainable Development) of Institute of Social Studies, Hague, The Netherlands in 2003. He also attended various Management Trainings.
Mr. B. O. Amobi is an Assistant Director and currently the Zonal Controller in charge of National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) operations in the South – South Zone. He was the Principal of Federal School of Statistics, Enugu Between 1991 – 2006; State officer in charge of NBS operation in the old Anambra State (now comprising of the three states – ENUGU, NEW ANAMBRA and EBONYI states); Lecturer and visiting lecturer for various institutions including University of Lagos, Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH), Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
He is also a Researcher and Consultant. He has written a lot of papers and participated in various projects.
Mr. B. O. Amobi has served the Nigerian Statistical Association in various capacities – Asst. National secretary, National Financial Secretary, National Secretary, 2nd Vice President.
He is also a member of African Statistical Association (AFSA), International Statistical Institute (ISI) – IAOS and IASS.
He is a good Christian and has the hobbies of Reading, watching films, and listening to Christian Messages.
